Morris Elementary Painting
Party!
Come ONE, come ALL for the first
workday at Morris Elementary School this Saturday, June 26th, starting
at 8:00 a.m. (Breakfast will be served.) We will be painting
classrooms. We have up to 3 to work on, so bring painting
equipment....rollers, extenders, brushes, drop clothes...if you've
painted, bring what you have. Ladders are also needed as the rooms have
high ceilings. The paint will be oil
based, so plan accordingly.
If you plan to attend or have any questions, email fpc@presby.org.
We need all the help we can get, so come on out.

Elementary.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY: Faith continues
to invest in this vital priority
ministry in a number of ways, including funding, leadership, volunteer
participation, prayers and worker meal support.

Thanks to everyone who was involved in any way with the construction of
this year’s Habitat for Humanity house. The house was dedicated Sunday June 13th!
Our benevolent contributions and many volunteer hours were a part of
the joint work of six churches. We celebrate helping build close to 20
houses over the last 16 years!

Morris Elementary
Weekend Food Bags for Students
Continues Through the Summer!
Thanks to everyone who
has contributed food for the food sacks for children at Morris
Elementary. This program will continue through the summer! You may
bring these things to the box as you come into the Educational building
by the office.
Morris Elementary provides many of their students, who are on
the
free lunch
program, with food bags over the weekends. This food helps to make sure
the students get the nourishment they need. The food is supplied by
many of Morris' faith and business partners. These partners make a full
school year commitment. First Methodist Church supplies more
than 80
bags per week. Faith will be teaming with First to support their
ministry efforts. Here
is a list of suggested items:

A Day of Service and Unity:
September 11, 2010
Save the Date!
|
Being and doing are a part of the body of Christ. Faith
Presbyterian Church's outreach activities are one way we put our Faith
into action. How can we connect the others outside our church
walls? Here is an important event for us to lead others in our
community to serve.
From Tom Lovell - Mark your calendars and plan to be a part of the
seventh annual “Day of Service and Unity” on Saturday, September
11th. Organized by the Interfaith Mission Service, the Day of
Service and Unity brings the congregations of faith communities
throughout the Huntsville area to work together on a wide variety of
community improvement projects. The day will begin at 7:30 am and
conclude at 12:30 pm and will provide the opportunity to get to know
those of other faith traditions, while working together to improve our
community. More details as to the variety of projects will be
shared later, but for now, put this date on your calendar and plan to
be a part of this very special event.
Faith Presbyterian Church has strong connections with Interfaith
Mission Service since it began. Help us make this day a success
for Huntsville.

Faith Reach Update!

Faith Outreach 2010
The
restructuring of Faith’s outreach
website to align more closely with the outreach budget is complete!
The Outreach Committee feels this is an important step for several
reasons.
- It significantly increases the transparency and accountability of
the committee’s management of the offerings entrusted to it.
- It
provides, in one easily accessible location, the background information
for each of these outreach areas budgeted for this year.
- It
provides information that is important not only for Faith members to
discern where God might be leading them to participate, but also to
visitors and seekers trying to determine if Faith Church will be their
new church home.
- Given our recent changes in demographics and
resources it provides a much needed snapshot of where our outreach
areas are as we discern what those areas should be in the future.
Check out the "Budget Backgrounds"
icon to your upper left.
However, outreach and mission are not
about budget alone ...
Please see the Faith
Reach Blog for more on this
story
and how you can help shape the future of Faith's outreach and mission!

Outreach Goals for 2010
|
|
Posted by DSM on Saturday January 16 2010 @ 02:26PM CST
|
Still Looking for a New Year's Resolution?
In Faith's January
Newsletter Pastor Tom suggested five goals for the new year. One of
which focused on Outreach and Mission!
"The fourth practice of a fruitful congregation is
Risk-Taking Mission. One of the foundations upon which Faith
Presbyterian Church was built was its witness and ministry to those
beyond our church campus. Through the work of our Outreach Committee
our church offers a wide variety of opportunities for you to share the
good news of the gospel to others in tangible ways. There are mission
and ministry opportunities within our own congregation, within the
Huntsville community, along with international opportunities through
our partnership with the eGoli Presbytery in South Africa and our
Presbytery. Why not resolve to become involved in at least one of these
mission efforts in the coming year?"
Come to Faith Reach often
for information on Outreach, Mission, and Service opportunities!
